A master of traditional watchmaking, Bovet, has released their new Tourbillon Amadéo Fleurier Virtuoso IX. This Bovet watch has a completely new design with trademark Bovet characteristics and features a second time zone, 10-day power reserve, big date, and flying tourbillon. The watch is characterized by the technical features and classic looks we have come to expect from Bovet.

The Bovet Tourbillon Amadéo Fleurier Virtuoso IX features a brand new hand wound Bovet caliber 17BM04-DFR with a 10-day power reserve that is housed in a 46.3-mm Fleurier Amadéo case. The unique Amadéo system allows you to transform the timepiece into a reversible wristwatch, pocket watch, or table clock without the use of any tools. You can also open the case back by simply applying pressure to the crown of the watch. These qualities make the Bovet Tourbillon Amadéo Fleurier Virtuoso IX a versatile watch with some remarkable technical features.
The first thing that catches the eye is the dial, which holds a lot of features, but is still very easy to read. The classically designed blue dial features a central minute hand, while the hour hand is offset at 2 o’clock. A second hour hand, the 24-hour hand, displays a second time zone at 10 o’clock. Both the local time and second time zone thus share the minute hand. A corresponding indicator displays the second time zone’s city name. A big date display is positioned on the right side of the dial and the power reserve indicator sits at 8 o’clock. All in all, the balance and clarity of the dial is remarkable, and it shows all the features nicely.
The reverse side of the watch is a different story. The back does not feature a dial and the hour and minute hands are placed directly over the movement of the watch. The effect is that you can enjoy the technical works of the movement and still be able to read the time. The only other ‘feature’ on the reverse side is the spherical differential winding system that generates 10 days of power reserve from a single barrel; this is placed at 12 ‘o clock.
The Bovet Tourbillon Amadéo Fleurier Virtuoso IX comes in 18k white gold, 18k red gold, or platinum. Each version features a blue dial and an alligator leather strap. Once again, Bovet demonstrates their unique perspective on traditional watchmaking with the Bovet Tourbillon Amadéo Fleurier Virtuoso IX.
