Sporty Watches With Green Dials

Nature and fresh air, harmony and sustainability, healing and renewal – we associate the color green with everything from nature and the environment to emotions and symbols. Green comes in many different shades and facets, ranging from vibrant and powerful to delicate and subdued. Perhaps that’s why it’s been one of the most popular dial colors in the watch industry for years.

During our visit to Watches and Wonders 2024, we noticed a number of watches with green dials that embody these qualities. These include the Czapek Antarctique Green Meteor, with its green lacquered meteorite dial, and new variants of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas in 18-karat rose gold, with dials that perfectly match the case material. In 2024, green will once again be THE trendy color for sophisticated luxury watches.

In this article, we’re sharing three examples of watches with green dials that you can buy on Chrono24. These timepieces are not only available for immediate purchase, but are also budget-friendly models that won’t break the bank.

Longines HydroConquest

The first example comes from the traditional brand Longines. While HydroConquest models with blue and black dials have been available since 2007, models with a green dial were first released in 2020. In my experience, timepieces from this collection usually come with excellent value for money.

The HydroConquest we’re looking at here has the reference number L3.781.4.06.6. It has a matte green dial and a green ceramic bezel. Its stainless steel case is 41 mm in diameter and 11.9 mm thick, making it a pleasantly slim watch. For those of us with sturdier wrists, Longines also offers the model with a diameter of 43 mm. The dial design for the HydroConquest series is a successful blend of familiar looks from various classics. The dot indices are reminiscent of the design of well-known Rolex models, and the Arabic numerals at 6, 9, and 12 o’clock recall the Omega Seamaster 300. Like the latter watch, the HydroConquest is water-resistant up to 300 m (30 bar, 984 ft).

Inside the watch ticks the automatic caliber L888, made by Swiss movement manufacturer ETA exclusively for Longines and based on the ETA A31.L11. The balance wheel oscillates at a gentle 25,200 vibrations per hour, providing a power reserve of 72 hours.

The HydroConquest L3.781.4.06.6 is equipped with a three-link stainless steel bracelet. Unworn models go for around $1,680, which buys you an excellently crafted diving watch with an exclusive movement.

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150 M

Let’s turn to the second watch with a green dial on our list, the Omega Aqua Terra 150 M ref. 220.10.41.21.10.001. The most recent versions of this watch are characterized by dials with a horizontal line pattern and sunburst. According to Omega, the design is supposed to recall the fine wooden decks of luxury boats. In any case, the green dial shines in sunlight and changes from light to dark green depending on the light. The look is rounded off by relatively short applied wedge indices and a date display at 6 o’clock.

Like the Longines HydroConquest, the Omega Aqua Terra has a 41-mm stainless steel case and a three-piece link stainless steel bracelet. The watch is water-resistant up to 150 m (15 bar, 492 ft), making it well suited to water and land – as its name suggests. On the whole, the Aqua Terra is probably best described as a sporty dress watch with underwater adaptability.

Omega fit the watch with its co-axial in-house caliber 8900. It is certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Meteorology (METAS), meaning that it’s resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. The movement is lightly decorated and is visible through the sapphire crystal case back. It has a power reserve of 60 hours.

Mint-condition models go for around $5,400.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date

The Polaris Date is our last tip for a sporty watch with a green dial, courtesy of Jaeger-LeCoultre. The design was inspired by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox launched in 1968.

The Polaris Date ref. Q906863J is characterized by its inner diving scale, which can be set using a second crown at 2 o’clock. The case itself is made of brushed stainless steel and is water-resistant up to 200 m (20 bar, 656 ft). However, with its diameter of 42 mm and thickness of almost 14 mm, it’s best suited to larger wrists.

The focal point of the design is of course the dial. It’s done in lacquered glossy green with a sunburst, meaning that its tone alternates between light and dark depending on how the light falls. The design takes many cues from its predecessor: large trapezoidal indices mark the hours, with Arabic numerals at 6, 9, and 12. The date display is located at 3 o’clock. The Polaris is worn on a green rubber strap that can be easily swapped out, thanks to the quick-change system.

The in-house caliber JLC899 with Glucydur balance wheel beats at the heart of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date and offers a power reserve of 70 hours. The sapphire crystal case back allows for an unfettered view of the movement.

Unworn Polaris Date models are available on the secondary market for an average of $10,000.

That’s it for our small selection of beautiful watches with a green dial. My favorite is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date. The dial design in particular is a perfect match for my taste. And upon closer inspection, it’s clear that the manufacturer put a lot of love into the production of the dial and the vertical integration of the watch as a whole. Along with an attractive design and excellent quality, the watch’s specs and the look of the in-house caliber JLC 899 are also big selling points.
