A passion for watches often goes hand in hand with an interest in fashion. It’s perhaps no coincidence that the most important events for both industries take place only a week apart, namely “SIHH” in Geneva and the “Pitti Uomo” fashion trade fair in Florence. Twice a year, fans of classic men’s fashion meet in the city of lilies. They are joined by an ever-growing number of street-fashion aficionados and so-called “peacocks,” who enjoy putting their quirky sense of fashion on full display.
In a previous article about Pitti Uomo 95, we suggested that the trade fair was the perfect place to spot a remarkable timepiece or two. Where else is so much attention given to matching your watch to your outfit (or your outfit to your watch)?! While other journalists and photographers had their eyes and lenses trained on the latest fashion trends, we were paying more attention to the attendees’ wrists. We hope no one was too offended by this.
Do you think our expectations of seeing a wide range of fantastic watches were too high? See what watches we found in Florence and decide for yourself.
